I grew them as a warm weather flower. Fantastic for small sized dried flower projects. Sow under cover Feb -April. Sow thinly and place somewhere warm, keep moist. Prick out and pot on when seedlings are large enough to handle. Grow on in a light, frost-free place. Harden off before planting out after the frosts. Can direct sow in May and June once danger of frost has passed.
