Sweet William Seeds Bell Meadow Mix

Dianthus Barbatus Mix

Seeds - 1.20g

I used to treat myself to bunches of Sweet William when I worked in finance (many years ago!) I loved them for their pretty little blooms, they had a sweet scent and also for how long they would last! They are mostly grown as biennials, meaning you sow them in one summer for flowers the following year. They can also be grown as an annual or a short-lived perennial of three or four years.

Germination Instructions: Sow April to July (and even August/Sept) I start mine in June in seed trays and pot on into small pots and moved them outside, and planted into the ground in September. You can also sow directly. Sow seeds very thinly into finely prepared soil. Sow 6mm deep into drills spaced 30cm apart. Cover with a fine sprinkling or compost. Water well and keep damp until germination, 14-21 days at 12-15°C.

Growing Instructions : Spring sowings plant out that spring/summe.r Autumn sowings overwinter in a cold frame and plant out the following spring. Likes rich soil and a place where it won’t get too wet.

Cultivation Instructions : Deadhead to extend flowering and to keep the plant healthy. After the first killing frost cut all stems back to a couple of inches above soil line. If growing as a short lived perennial you can divide in spring as the plant starts to grow.
